The power of nature has the capacity to either quickly fell or slowly dissolve all human beings, and yet now more than ever people have been successful in the submission of nature. Nature Preserve deals with that push-pull as it pertains to one individual. In this performance piece the artist desires for nature to once again have power, but is confronted with the futility of one person trying to manifest that.
The artist's current work deals with the intrinsic connection she feels with nature and other humans, as well as the lack of boundaries that exist between herself and the physical world. She seeks to create a physical manifestation that represents that lack of division. Using the symbology of merging human, animal and plant materials to create new objects, creatures and environments, a utopic vision of a world is sought after, where everything can belong. www.jodisharp.ca |
