Whether we cry in public or in private, because of positive or negative emotions, we all share the capacity to cry, which is one of the elements that makes us human. My current body of work represents crying as a complex action that both exhausts and heals by relieving stress and emotions, while simultaneously liberating the hormones in our brains that make us feel better.
Transformative changes in human beings are produced by the positive and negative experiences created by our own decisions, and by our interactions with others. My artistic work conveys the mental, emotional and physical transformation that I have had since leaving Colombia to move to Canada. The production of fibre art and sculpture are my main tools of communicating the interactions between this new world and my Colombian roots. |
