Warp Wave is a linear structure that embodies an action. This object is a result of a conversion that lives between notions of mark and form. Steel solidifies the sculpture’s existence as a squiggle, yet it is still sensitive enough to expand and contract. It is resilient and able to recover from any meddlesome spirits. This piece is part of a larger flexible structure where a display of items will activate relationships between themselves in a delineated space.
This body of work is markedly concerned with how and where boundaries are drawn and the consequences of these lines. These ideas regarding periphery are embodied in objects that exist in-between flat marks and volumetric forms. The pieces involved implicate containment through their unfinished appearance as a way of exercising their potential to continue interacting. These works function as extensions of the self that provide a framework of reference and therefore become a vocabulary that can be continually drawn upon in an endless loop of recycling. www.selinaaliens.com |
