Half shadowed, half revealed by unusual lighting, nature and structure begin to fuse at an uncertain time of day within miniature boxes on the wall. Peculiar organic forms are given life through whimsically coloured fibres, fabrics, plastics and light circuitry. Conversely, electrical towers stand colorless, askew and frail as if to be fading away. Within the microcosm, change may occur rapidly and unexpectedly. Ultimately, all returns back to the natural state of the earth.
The paradox of our time exists as the more we build and invent, the less we are connected to each other. Fascinated with the complex structure of electrical towers, I question the authenticity of excessive man-made structures commonly observed within natural landscapes. As such constructions are used to manipulate our perception of reality, my work explores a space existing half way between waking life and dream. |
