Working towards sculpture and its environment LaLaLand is a juxtaposition of visual patterns and repeated formal elements suggesting by their shape and materiality the animal essence. The piece is an attempt towards installation and an exploration of space; an interaction with architecture and design. The challenge is to bring small, complex works into a larger realm.
I like to go back to traditional techniques, and push them using unconventional material associations; this goes as well for my use of contrasts, in order to build up tension. My pieces often reminisce about the body, the self, and raise questions regarding beauty. They are raw and complex. The concept is like foreplay; I need to observe, feel, and touch; the first contact is crucial. Then, I am comfortable elaborating. |
